STAR TREK: MOVIE MEET UP, THE RESULTS ARE IN!!

Ladies and Gentlemen (…or maybe just ladies, IDK); I think the poll for deciding the Great Star Trek Re-viewing has been opened long enough. THE RESULTS, IF YOU PLEASE:

EDITED 6/1 WITH FINAL DETAILS

IF YOU HAVE JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS WEE LITTLE SOIREE INTO THE FANNISH, DON'T PANIC, OF COURSE YOU CAN COME, MORE THE MERRIER, ETC ETC ETC.

BE SURE TO KEEP TABS ON THIS ENTRY, FOR LAST MINUTE UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS/PLAN CHANGES.

OK MY FELLOW BAMFs. It's been a long time coming, but this is it.

THE GQ MOTHERFUCKING NEW YORK MEET UP DETAILS.

This is your captain speaking, and bbs, prepare yourselves for a day of Star Trekkin' debauchery the likes of which the world has never seen.

I've only one question for you: are you ready to boldly go where no man's gone so awesomely before?? WELL???? ARE YOU?????

First off: if you need my cell phone number, drop me a comment/pm asking for it. If you run into any problems, get lost, have questions, need traveling advice etc, etc, etc, you can bet your ass you can give me a call.

And now: our mission perimeters:

1) PRE MOVIE FOOD AND DRINK:

We'll meet up at The Irish Rogue (356 W 44th St, Btwn 8th & 9th Ave) at 3 pm. This is a restaurant/bar, and I have fond memories of it from Browncoats NYC…before they got themselves booted from the place. (…still don't know how THAT happened). I recall the food being good, and the drinks being reasonable. I figure this is a good place for everyone to meet up as there won't be any under-age issues.

Of course, you are under NO OBLIGATION to come and geek out with your fellow fans before the movie, but REALLY—would you deny yourself the joy of basking in the mutual adoration of Trek with like-minded folks? (I personally think there should be dramatic readings of the ST GQMF macros, but that's just me)

2)SRS BIZNESS AKA THE MOVIE

We will migrate from the Irish Rogue to the theater at approximately 5:45pm.

The theater is AMC EMPIRE 42 on 42nd street btw 7th and 8th ave.
The movie time is 6:30 pm.

I figure that gives us plenty to time to get in, get settled, and get good seats/be generally obnoxiously geeky in the theater itself. Of course, feel free to purchase your ticket beforehand.

3) THE AFTER GLOW, THE FIGURATIVE CIGERETTE, OR, THE AFTER-MOVIE HANGING OUT
After the movie, you can either feel free to go your separate ways, or continue with the geek-gasm The Dead Poet on 450 Amsterdam Ave, btw 81st and 82nd streets. This would mean taking the 1 subway to the 79th street stop and walking north 2 blocks and east 1 block. Ending...well, whenever really. Maybe if I'm really lucky it'll end when I get into a bar fight and end up getting dared to do better by Captain Pike…

*blink blink*

Well, that's about it. So far it looks like we've got some 23 people coming (which is AMAZING, guys, so YOU'D BETTER SHOW)! So, spread the word! Bring a friend! Bring a camera! (I know I'm bringing mine *evil grin*) Bring a…flask? (…Which I TOTALLY COULD too…hrum…)

Geek Out.

i had so many geeky and awesome friends in college.
but yes, i think that [livejournal.com profile] ink_n_imp is planning some kind of drinking expedition for after, and maybe an eating one for before? either way, i love food and booze, so.

Yea, as it is a Saturday, I think it might be fun to have a lunch/dinner/drinking sorta meet up before hand, and then sojourn to someplace after the movie for more drinks/Trek Squeeing. I was thinking of meeting pre-movie around 300ish, figure that will give everyone who comes enough time to eat/nurse a drink (or many in my case). Though, for the pre movie, I'd like to have it somewhere where, even if it's a bar, a minor could at least get in and hang with us, and have something to eat/etc. I know the Bull Moose is good for that, as the NYC Browncoats (firefly fandom) like to meet there, and they have an upstairs with plenty of couches/chairs.

Afterwards though, I'd be happy moving either downtown or uptown for continued festivities.

I think the Bull Moose sounds awesome. I love the idea of keeping in step with other Fandoms and their hang-out locations, plus: anything Firefly fandom does cannot be bad. I think we should keep The Dead Poet in mind for our after party, because I know that the underagers can get in and hang out (the first time I went I was underage), and that Bandom frequently uses TDP as a meet-up spot. It's a like a fandom tour of NYC!

The times sound good though! I'm so excited about all of this. WHOO!

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT! BACK THAT CRAZY TRAIN UP

Yeah, I went to college with her. We were both comparative literature majors, and in the class of '08 at Smith.

HA, I went to high school with her, visited Smith a handful of times (Haymarket *drool*).

....my internet world REALLY, REALLY has to stop melding with my RL. This is the second time this has happened to me in the Trek fandom THIS MONTH.

SERIOUSLY? Maybe Trek fandom is just full of awesomes. But yeah, I love Erin. I was always so jealous of her because she often wrote her papers stoned and did AMAZING, whereas I was sober as a judge and locked up in the library.... She is a brilliant girl, and so internet meme savvy. She once mentioned "two girls, one cup" in class, and our professor went home and WATCHED IT.

HOLY CRAP, I remember her telling me about that XD

Yea, she was just as good at the amazing academic bullshit in high school. Was always a wee bit jealous, and I could hold my own in the bullshit department too.

Hrum...now I have to go hunt her down and make sure I don't go another of her returns to LI without seeing her.

Awesome! I get off work at 3.30... I'll already be in Manhattan that day so I can make it down wherever that place is pretty quickly. Probably around 4-4:30. I'm cool with going anywhere. Not picky at all :)
