Or:
Brendan, you are REALLY going to love this!
...So, I'm checking my email, minding my own buisness, when I open up an email from [osa earthmatters], an NYU group I was foolish enough to sign up for. What can I say, I'm a sucker for people saying that if I sign up I'll get emails about doctumentary screenings and the like.
ANYWAY, I open up the email, and find THIS!
Before there was GSOC, there was...NEWSIES!
“Wrongs will be righted, If we’re united”
The 1992 Disney cult classic musical NEWSIES, starring a young, svelte
Christian Bale, recounts the efforts of teenage newspaper peddlers to
form a union in turn-of-the-century New York City.
Join Graduate Undergraduate Solidarity (GUS)
for dinner and a screening of NEWSIES!
...Now, I'm ALMOST tempted to go to remind our Graduate Brethen that, while Christian Bale is the SMEX and it would be a glorious day the day he becomes of figurehead of ANY protest/strike/whatever that is in a close proximity to me...well, would YOU take the Graduate Union seriously if they broke out into a chorus of "Seize the Day" outside of the window of Sexton? I don't even think I could take them seriously if they did so just at the screening of the movie.
*hand to forehead, and sigh*
