For Italian tommorrow I have to have an Italian song ready that uses the command verb tense. You know like, "Do this!" or "Mangia!" or "Don't fuck with my shit!"

Since my knowledge of Italian songs is close to nil, I'm once again letting my laziness rule all, and am pulling out the old Italian favorite--the Italian National anthem! But really, how came you not love a song that's all about how the Austrians have fucked Italy's shit for the last time, so rise with me my fellow Italians and Poles, because Victory is Rome's bitch and we are ready to die for a country that isn't quite united yet but we're getting there!

It brings a tear to the eye. *wibble*

Oh, and on that note. I bow before [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa for taking that German cartoon and making this *points above* icon. Thank you! My non-rational fear salutes you!
So, I've been trying to download the first three episodes of "Carnivale" from bittorrent, but it has taken the better part of two weeks. And my moment of elation was rather quashed when I started to play the first episode, only to find it dubbed in Italian.

Two Points to make:

1) Damnit, I spent all the time trying to download it for naught

2) I smile wanly at the irony of it all: of all the many languages of the world, go fig that I'd get my hands on an Italian dub. I mean, Spanish rather makes sense, but Italian? This truthfully works out marvelously for me, as I am taking Italian again in the fall, and need to brush up on the old pater lingua.
Of course, this means I have no idea what the hell is going on, as I am only able to picked out snippets and words.

Oh well, back to watching Deadwood and A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

On another note, I will not be able to write a coherant review of Dead Man's Chest until I've seen it again. The midnight showing ran much like watching new episodes of House M.D. did: after finally getting to see something I've waited ages for, I walked out of the theater only to discover that because of my excitement, I had been too muddle-headed to pay attention.
So, I was in Italian and Gabriella (my teacher) gets it in her head that TODAY we going to DEBATE! ABOUT!...a past president. But since we were all ignorant yokels and couldn't really remember what the big deal about Clinton was ANYWAY, several members of my class convinced her to let us debate about Dubuya. The downside that I think they failed to realize was that there has to be TWO sides to the debate--it couldn't just be us mindlessly ranting in poor Italian about how much Bush sucks, regardless of how much fun that would have been.

Anyway, it was all half assed and half hearted, for in the words of Mike, dude in my class: "Man, it is way to early to be pretending I like Bush." Thus the debate began, and it was definitely on par with my 10th grade class debate on World Peace. Which means it was half hearted, ignorant generalized shit.

BUT!!!...that's not the point of this long winded tale, oh no! No, my friends, like so many other things in my life, the point of this story is Abortion.

And cake.

You see, one girl in my "pro Bush" group at one point said, as a rebuttal, "Aborto e` torto."

Now, I don't know what "Torto" means (but after looking it up in the dictionary, torto means wrong) but I know that "torta" means "cake".

Immediately, a vision of Jenni's Kerry-eating-a-baby icon combined with a remembrance of Lindsay and Erin marching around our old room in Brittany chanting "Feed Us. Feed Us. Fetus. Fetus." burned my inner eye, causing me to blurt out:

"And what if 'Aborto e` una torta?' Then you can have your cake and eat it too."

So, in grand total, I got silence from my classmates, a shudder from Mike, and a laugh and "bene" from my teacher.

And now I've got "Torta di Aborto" stuck in my mind. Who wants to join me in beating this dead horse? Can there be pastries as well? Cannoli's?

OMFG.

PREGNANT CANNOLI'S!!!

Cordially Yours,
