AND THE SILENCE IS BROKEN!!
Dec. 30th, 2006 12:12 amThe internet was made strictly verboten by my mother over the holidays, as we were hosting old family friends (Shocking...they kept talking about them as if they were family, but they are just really, really old family FRIENDS...which may as well be one and the same for a pack of Sicilians, but *shrug*) and my mother knows the habits of my brother and me far too well. So, out went the internet wire! In came Nella understanding all the Italian being suddenly spoken in the household, but desperately unable to add any two cents to the conversation (I curse my slow brain when it comes to speaking Italian).
In fact, the only reason I'm able to break lj silence now is that, in what will be remembered as the single most spontaneous decision the Inserra family has ever made (and we are in NO way a spontaneous folk. Very set in our ways. Drives my friends CRAZY), I am writing this from Annapolis, where the internet be wireless, and my aunt's house be chaotic enough where my interneting goes unnoticed. Yesterday, my dad's partner offered to trade this weekend for another weekend and an extra ER call, and as we've been scraping the bottom of the barrel of things to do with these old family friends from Sicily, my dad traded weekends and 24 hours later, we arrived in Maryland.
So, tomorrow, bright and early, the Inserra/McCarthy's (what can I say, Uncle Brian's so very, very old school Irish/German Brooklyn) are giving the old F.F. from Sicily the grand tour of Washington D.C., as we had run out of things to do with them on Long Island.

Date: 2007-01-06 04:51 pm (UTC)GOOD GOD ANTONELLA! Maryland? That is crazy, though, I suppose that is better than just going to Wallmart everyday like you guyd were taking about, but wow. Also, I am still madly in love with your family. I loved the random Italian around Christmas time, I especially liked the Italian commentary to the martix video game.
