Been meaning to do with one for a while, and finally got around to it.

• Post ten of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.

• NO CAPTIONS!!! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.

• They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason.

• You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.

#1 is definitely how I feel most days!
8 and 9 are gorgeous, I want to go to there. :)

Oh, not a day goes by I don't feel number 1 just a little bit.

and 8...interesting story about that. No idea where it is, but I had a dream about it BEFORE I found the picture. I was a knight, it was that strange twilighty color you get by a beach or body of water when there are stormy grey clouds in the sky, but the sun's on the horizon, which makes the horizon and landscape orange and the waters gray... and on the shore was THAT castle, hand to God, but with more glass, more twisted, and more decrepit. And there was a princess of course, and her elder aunt, and a fire in the castle after I had entered it, and other things happened in the dream etc etc--

And then a few weeks later I found THAT picture. Fastest right-click-save EVER. I look at it on occasion and wonder where the hell it is and when I can get to it.

That's amazing! Shit, I'd freak out if something like that happened to me. Totally awesome. I hope you find it someday :)

I especially like 9, but I always like pseudo-Roman paintings.

And I laughed out loud at 2.

Who is that in 3 and 5?

Well, 3 was a painting I fell in love with at first sight at the Met, and she was only listed as "Woman with a White Rose". The description went on and on about how the painter had captured her seductive, sultry pose and look...which is OBVIOUS the met doesn't know what the hell they are talking about, cause the look on that woman's face is "Bitch plz" or "Pull the other, it's got bells on it".

I love her so.

5 is Thalia, muse of Comedy. In a story I've been working on, my hero Imp is helped by various sorts, one of them being Thalia (though, known as Wilde in the story, as she's trying to keep under her sister Calliope's radar.) I was looking for inspiration, and her face is just so perfect I just had to save it...though, that would be classical Thalia...by the time she's going around as Wilde, she's adopted a bowler, a cane, and a 1890's suit. ^_^

I need to go the Met ARGH!!

I've used the name Thalia before - It's so PRETTY. And so are those two paintings. <3

I wonder if there's a classical painting of someone with a cat, that would be perfect for me.

'Scuse me, rambling. Tired. :D

WEEEEEEEEEELL, if you're ever in NYC, there's always a futon you can sleep on, and a tour guide at the ready! ;)

Oh, and I'm CERTAIN I can find you some sort of painting with cats in it. XD

I love that #1 so definitely describes you.

Also, all this wonderful art makes me want to go to the Met sometime this week.

OOoooooh, I'd hit an impromptu Met visit, if you're game. There are a handful of paintings I get the hankering to revisit, say hello to, that sort of thing. ^_^ Of course, if things are tight time-wise for you, there's always your school breaks, when you're back in town!

I'd love it. There are some temporary exhibits I'd love to hit up.

Wednesday at 2:30 maybe? I have to be in the city earlier than that for something else.
