Elsewhere, another heavily promoted, scary theme park ride was shut down last week. The Kingda Ka roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J., billed as the world’s fastest when it opened to the public last month, was closed June 8 after it malfunctioned during a test when no one was aboard.

On Tuesday, park officials determined that a piece of liner covering an area under the coaster’s tracks had dislodged and “damaged a number of other parts,” spokeswoman Kristin Siebeneicher told the Asbury Park (N.J.) Press.

Huh...so THAT'S why is wasn't working when Lindsay, Tammy, Lisa and I went to Six Flags yesterday.

In other news, I have RETURNED! I am back on Long Island from two trips down to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Now I have more weedings and planting to do than I can shake a stick out, though I have just discovered that there are TWO glorious cherry trees in my back yard who decided to fruit this year. HUZZAH FOR CHERRIES!

I shall continue my update later.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW CLOSE I LIVE TO GREAT ADVENTURE??? BAHHHH i wish i'd known!!!! i would've driven out there (literally i live 20 - 15 minutes away) to see you guys!! or you guys could've come swimming at my house!! AHHHHH! i'm sorry i missed your call today -- i've been cleaning furiously for my brother's high school graduation party this Saturday (which you're welcome to come to with Lindsay and Tammy if you're up for it!!). Italian food, poolside volleyball, possibly some ultimate frisbee/football action. all that good stuff. you should come!! you can meet my insane Italian family (and the Jewish half, that is, my father's side of the family will also be there, but the Italians are far more numerous... damn Catholics!).

Think about it. No pressure. (says the half Sicilian..)

GAH! I had no IDEA! BLAST!

Well, I shall certainly tuck that away under "things to know in the future".

Tammy's up at Mass. this weekend, so I donno how I'd get a ride out there since I am very, very lacking in the highway driving department. Alas. BUT a get-together is in order. We shall have to plan for something.

Oh! well if you feel up for it, the port authority NJ transit bus station is in toms river (the town next to mine, about 12 minutes away, i can definitely pick you up). you just take the 319/137 (either one) bus to Toms River (the 137 goes to Toms River and stops there, the 319 stops at Toms River and keeps going to Atlantic City so that's why there are two diff. numbers). It's the 3rd floor platform of the port authority, gate 319. i think it costs 12 bucks. you can sleep over if you want. :-) anyway, now you know for the future. i live about an hour outside the city. give me call and let me know. :-) i would drive to long island to pick you up, but my mom needs me here (we're doing.. massive cleaning. .. ridiculous. i never threw away so many plastic barbie shoes).

i'll try calling you back on your cell -- talk to you soon!
