am back from vacation BUT...
Nov. 3rd, 2005 11:03 pmGot back into Florence today, said my farewells to Cousin Nino and his wife, and this evening did the same for my parents. I have eaten more food on this vacation than should be humanly possible, and have been so staterated with the Italian language my brain is exhausted. But since I got back a day ahead of when I had orginally thought, I only have to play NaNo catch up on 5001 words, instead of the 6668 I had expected orginally.
However, gentle readers and fellow nano-ers, my nano project, due to my late start, has been taken hostage by inspiration and has morphed from a fairy-tale spoof focusing on a fairy godmother apprentice, to a rather Dahl-ic tale about an orphaned boy and his eccentricly brilliant, much older sister. I have no plot except for a vague sort of Auntie Mame pretence, and three major characters. To be frank, what I have written so far (all 1317 words) are quite terrifying. I feel like it can keep writing itself, do to it's nature of whimsical suffering and it's inclusion of a rather mad-seeming parental figure, but still, to have a safe, planned out nano THROWN into the wind for a serious flight of fancy is disconcerning.
Well, nothing else to do but to keep writing! I've 5001 words to write tonight, and time's a wasting!!
EDIT OF IMPORTANCE!!!:
1800+ words in and I desperately need suggestions for a name for a grad school age girl who is so brilliant as to be eccentric bordering on mad, who is routinely courted by major universities, research faciliates, government officials for advisement purposes, etc, but who is content to sit in her apartment continuing her studies to become the penultimate "renaissance man". She has just been put in charge of the raising of her 7 year old brother Thomas, and lives with her research partner/roommate named Phillip. They all live in a one bedroom apartment, and all the wall space not used by furniture is devoted to books.
Ok...start making suggestions....NOW!!!!!!!
